Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone mat
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Chef’s knife
  • Cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional for a sweet twist
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup.
  • Prepare the Sweet Potatoes:
  • Wash and peel the sweet potatoes (optional). Cut them into wedges, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Season the Wedges:
  • Place the sweet potato wedges in a large mixing bowl. Add olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, cinnamon (if using), salt, and pepper. Toss until all the wedges are evenly coated.
  • Arrange on Baking Sheet:
  • Spread the wedges out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they aren’t overcrowded to ensure even baking.
  • Bake the Wedges:
  • Bake for 20 minutes, then flip the wedges to ensure even browning. Continue baking for another 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and the centers are tender.
  • Serve Hot:
  • Remove from the oven and let the wedges cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary, if desired.
