Ingredients

  • 2 cans of tuna in water drained
  • 1 large ripe avocado pitted and peeled
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup celery finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cucumber finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Greek yogurt for extra creaminess

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients:
  • Drain the tuna and place it in a mixing bowl.
  • Dice the avocado and add it to the bowl with the tuna.
  • Finely chop the red onion, celery, and cucumber. Halve the cherry tomatoes. Add all the vegetables to the mixing bowl.
  • Chop the fresh cilantro and add it to the bowl.
  • Mix the Salad:
  • Using a fork or potato masher, gently mash the avocado into the tuna until well combined. Leave some avocado chunks for texture.
  • Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture and stir to combine.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you prefer a creamier texture, add 1-2 tablespoons of mayonnaise or Greek yogurt and mix well.

  • Serve the avocado tuna salad on its own, in a sandwich, or with crackers. It also makes a great topping for a green salad or filling for a wrap.
