Adding pink sprinkles to these chocolate-covered strawberries makes them not only delicious but also visually stunning, especially for celebrations like Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or even a fun treat for a girls' night in. This recipe is incredibly simple, yet looks elegant and festive, turning ordinary strawberries into something special.

Equipment

  • Fresh strawberries: Look for ripe strawberries with green leaves still attached for the best presentation.
  • High-quality chocolate: You can use milk, dark, or white chocolate based on your preference.
  • Pink sprinkles: For decoration. You can also use edible glitter for a little extra sparkle.
  • Microwave-safe bowl or double boiler: For melting the chocolate.
  • Baking sheet: To place the strawberries while they cool.
  • Parchment paper: To line the baking sheet and prevent the chocolate from sticking.
  • Toothpicks or skewers: To hold the strawberries while dipping.

Ingredients

  • 12 fresh strawberries washed and dried thoroughly
  • 1 cup chocolate chips milk, dark, or white chocolate, depending on your preference
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or coconut oil to ensure smooth dipping
  • Pink sprinkles for decoration or any sprinkles of your choice

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Strawberries
  • Wash the strawberries under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. It's important to dry the strawberries completely because water can cause the chocolate to seize up when you dip them.
  • Leave the green tops on for easy handling and a decorative touch.
  • Step 2: Melt the Chocolate
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (or coconut oil) to make the chocolate smooth and easy to dip.
  • Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler by placing the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water, stirring constantly until melted.
  • Step 3: Dip the Strawberries
  • Hold each strawberry by the green leaves and dip it into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s covered about two-thirds of the way up. Let any excess chocolate drip off.
  • Place the dipped strawberries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Step 4: Add the Pink Sprinkles
  • Before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle pink sprinkles over the chocolate-covered portion of the strawberry. You can also roll the chocolate-covered strawberries in sprinkles if you want to cover the whole surface.
  • Repeat for all strawberries.
  • Step 5: Let the Chocolate Set
  • Place the strawberries in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden. This will give you that signature crispy chocolate coating when you bite into them.
  • Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
  • Once the chocolate has hardened, your strawberries are ready to be served. They make an elegant snack or dessert for any occasion.
