Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups cooked white rice or quinoa optional
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Mexican blend
  • 1 cup pico de gallo store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup guacamole store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro optional
  • 1 lime cut into wedges

Instructions

  • Cook the Ground Beef:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula or wooden spoon.
  • Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the taco seasoning mix and water to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  • Simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the beef is fully coated in the seasoning and the liquid has reduced.
  • Prepare the Rice (Optional):
  • If using rice or quinoa, cook according to package instructions and set aside.
  • Assemble the Taco Bowls:
  • Start with a base of cooked rice or quinoa in each bowl (if using).
  • Add a generous layer of shredded lettuce on top.
  • Spoon the seasoned ground beef over the lettuce.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the hot beef to melt slightly.
  • Add a scoop of pico de gallo and a scoop of guacamole.
  • Dollop sour cream on top.
  • Garnish and Serve:
  • Sprinkle chopped fresh cilantro over the bowls (if desired).
  • Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
