Ingredients

  • For the Chili:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper optional, for extra spice
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • For the Hot Dogs:
  • 6 high-quality beef hot dogs
  • 6 brioche or classic hot dog buns
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack
  • ¼ cup diced red onion
  • ¼ cup sliced jalapeños optional
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Make the Chili:
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it apart.
  • Add chopped onions and cook until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Mix in tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne (if using), Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and brown sugar. Stir well.
  • Pour in tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir and let it simmer for 20–25 minutes until thickened. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  • Prepare the Hot Dogs:
  • Grill or pan-sear hot dogs until they have a nice char.
  • Lightly toast the buns.
  • Assemble the Loaded Chili Cheese Hot Dogs:
  • Place hot dogs in the toasted buns.
  • Spoon the homemade chili over each hot dog.
