Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Tongs
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Paper towels
  • Plate for serving

Ingredients

  • 1 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak or ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola oil

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a little oil, then sauté the onions and bell peppers until softened.
  • Add the thinly sliced steak or ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as needed. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Once the meat and veggies are cooked, remove the skillet from heat and let it cool slightly. Stir in the shredded cheese.
  • Assemble the Egg Rolls
  • Lay an egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Add a generous spoonful of the meat and cheese mixture near the center of the wrapper.
  • Fold the sides over the filling, then roll the wrapper tightly, sealing the edges with a dab of water. Repeat with all wrappers.
  • Fry the Egg Rolls
  • Heat oil in a frying pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place a few egg rolls into the oil, avoiding overcrowding.
  • Fry for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Serve
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing or a spicy mayo.
